The purpose of this report is to review current industry needs and educational responses&#13;
related to the field of automotive technology. This report is intended to assist the Department&#13;
and the College Administration in planning for the future of the Automotive Technology program&#13;
at Oakland Community College. The review was initiated by Dr. Bill Rose, Dean of Academic&#13;
Services at Oakland Community College's Auburn Hills Campus. The needs assessment includes&#13;
a comprehensive literature review, data supplied by the U.S. Department of Labor, Michigan&#13;
Occupational Information System (MOIS), information compiled from phone conversations with&#13;
industry analysts, personal interviews with industry experts, an examination of related programs&#13;
in other higher education institutions, phone surveys of employers in the automotive industry and&#13;
students who have recently enrolled in Automotive Technology courses at OCC.

on-going effort to evaluate the viability of all vocational programs at the College. The report&#13;
includes a comprehensive literature review, data supplied by the U.S. Department of Labor,&#13;
Michigan Occupational Information System (MOIS), information compiled from phone&#13;
conversations with industry experts, and an examination of related programs in other higher&#13;
education institutions. Phone surveys of employers in the automotive industry and students&#13;
who have recently enrolled in Automobile Servicing courses at OCC were conducted.
