This report is an analysis of enrollment trends for the ESL (English as a Second Language) program from the 1999- 2000 through 2003- 2004 academic years.  The analysis highlights the ESL course enrollment changes over the five year period, the change of foreign student status categories by campus, comparison to other southeast Michigan community colleges and schools, and the changes in the ESL curriculum.

<title>2002-2003 ESL COMPASS Correlation Analysis</title>

This report is an analysis of the MTELP (Michigan Test of English Language Proficiency) and the ESL COMPASS (English as a Second Language Computerized Adaptive Placement Assessment and Support System) to determine if the COMPASS exam would be an adequate replacement for the MTELP exam.  This analysis compares all First-Time OCC students who took both the MTELP and COMPASS exams within the same time frame; as well as the review of descriptive statistics.

This is a preliminary report that covers the ESL Bridge Program study.  The ESL Bridge Program was comprised of non-credit English as a Second Language (ESL) courses and this study aimed to answer questions such as: the number of former ESL Bridge course students  later enrolling in ESL credit courses, how many ESL credit courses they complete and their GPA, how many non- ESL credit courses these students enroll in, how many non-ESL credit courses do they successfully complete and their GPA, and finally how many of the former ESL Bridge students graduate from OCC.
