This is a proposal for the developmental reading and writing courses at OCC.  This report summarizes research conducted over a period of eleven months by members of the College's Literacy committee and staff in the Office of lnstitutional Research.  It includes an extensive literature review on theory and practice of teaching literacy skills, data concerning the relevant student population, and information from focus groups and personal interviews.

data submitted to the State of Michigan in the annual ACS-6 (Activities Classification&#13;
Structure) process. This report is based on each course section's official count date (1/10th Day). The&#13;
Credit Hour Trends report examines annual (July 1 - June 30) enrollment trends of OCC&#13;
disciplines, based on course prefix codes.
